What is a retainer?
A retainer is a fund that you authorize your attorney to draw from to pay for legal fees. Generally, we will ask for a "retainer" as a down payment on services to be rendered.

Where is the money held?
All funds received from the client are kept in the Law Firm’s IOLTA Trust Account, in accordance with law, until earned by the Firm. When we receive funds via PayPal, we transfer them into the Firm's IOLTA soon thereafter.

Who pays the transaction cost?
The Firm pays it, never the client. Per the terms of service, PayPal is entitled to a percentage of the money transacted, automatically withdraw by PayPal, which never makes it into the Firm's IOLTA. However, that is a cost incurred by the Firm, not the client. All clients will receive a credit by the Firm for the full amount of the original deposit.
